Delicious seafood at Tuckers
LBI boasts a handful of really amazing seafood places, and Tuckers Tavern is certainly among the best restaurants for fish and crabs in Long Beach Island. With local seafood items, like Barnegat Bay scallops and local flounder, as well as a raw bar, you’ll find the freshest seafood available at Tuckers. If you are more in the mood for comfort foods with a LBI twist, you’re in luck with menu items like the lobster bisque, fish and chips, burgers, and fried pickles. The menu also features many gluten free options, which can be a relief for many patrons! One look at the menu and it’s easy to see how anyone might need to make more than one visit to Tuckers to try all of the mouth watering options featured at the restaurant. Even so, the menu changes often to feature seasonal ingredients and to offer new food and drink items, and a great excuse to return to Tuckers Tavern again and again.
Sandy damaged many of the best restaurants in Long Beach Island
Tuckers Restaurant had been family owned and operated for more than 50 years when it was completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in the fall of 2012. After the storm, the fate of Tuckers was unknown, until it was purchased by Fearless Restaurants and reopened in 2014. Fearless Restaurants also the owns and operates two of Long Beach Island’s other favorites, Daddy O Hotel and Restaurant in Brant Beach and Plantation Restaurant in Harvey Cedars.
History Reinvented at Tuckers Tavern
In 2014, Tuckers was redesigned and reopened as Tuckers Tavern. Under this new ownership and management, Tuckers has remained true to its roots as a classic style pub with a Long Beach Island vibe. Its interior is classic gastro-pub style with nautical features. Its wood paneling is true to the style of its original roots, as Long Beach Island locals and former patrons will remember from the Tuckers of decades past. While some original elements of the restaurant were reimagined, the new design of Tuckers Tavern features an eclectic mix of nautical wall pieces, like the mermaids on the bar posts and vintage style life preservers hanging behind the bar – a design that comes together in style to create a unique dining experience.
A Tavern with an LBI Vibe
Last summer, Long Beach Island reached celebrity status when Taylor Swift surprised fans by singing at a wedding in Brant Beach, a story that was all over social media. But just a few weeks later, Grammy winning artist Christina Aguilera was spotted at a wedding at Tuckers Tavern. There were no paparazzi. No crowds of screaming fans outside the restaurant, aside from reports of a few fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the star. Long Beach Island has a casual, friendly, laid back vibe that makes Tuckers Tavern fit right into the LBI scene. With no shortage on quality, Tuckers manages to replicate the LBI vibe that makes it a place people want to go for great beers and amazing, fresh, local food.
