Everything sold at the market is either harvested from the ocean in Long Beach Island, or is handpicked from Fulton Fish Market in New York. Depending on the time of year, you could find Alaskan king crab, Hawaiian Opah and Ship Bottom shellfish at the Ship Bottom Shellfish market.

Ship Bottom Shellfish owners Ginna and Bob Nugent have a second seafood restaurant in LBI, and two other restaurants in the nearby town of Manahawkin. Just south of Ship Bottom, there is a seafood place called Black Whale Bar & Fish House. The Nugent family opened Black Whale Bar & Fish House over ten years ago. At Black Whale, they offer surf-and-turf lunch and dinner options plus appetizers, desserts and an extensive wine list. There’s a list of specialty cocktails with fun, beach- inspired names. Lobsters and crabs are kept in a holding tank while oysters and clams are held on ice platters.

Driving home from LBI, you may go through Manahawkin and see their two seafood restaurants on the mainland: Mud City Crab House and The Old Causeway Steak and Oyster House.
